A Basic Mathematical Skills Competency is one of the requirements for an undergraduate degree from Â鶹¹ÙÍø.
Satisfying this requirement depends on the type of student:
- New First-Year and Transfer Students for Fall 2024 should complete the ALEKS Placement test.
- Students who Started at Â鶹¹ÙÍø Prior to Fall 2024:
- If you have a Math SAT score of 500 or higher, please provide that information to the university or Mathematics Department.
- If you transfer a math course to Â鶹¹ÙÍø with a grade of C or higher, you will have satisfied the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Basic Mathematical Skills Competency requirement.
- If you need to take a math course for your program or you want to take a math course for other reasons, please complete the ALEKS Placement test.
- For all other students, the University is in the process of creating a procedure for returning students to satisfy the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Basic Mathematical Skills Competency requirement. These details will be posted on this site as soon as they become available.
Competency Requirements
All Â鶹¹ÙÍø students are required to complete the Basic Mathematical Skills Competency requirement. The ALEKS PPL assessment is an advising system for placement into a mathematics class.
Once you are placed into a mathematics course, you must pass this course in order to complete the Basic Mathematical Skills Competency requirement.
Competency Requirement Plan
To remove Holds 1 and 2, fill out the Math Competency Hold Form found in your Warriors Connect Portal in the Registration Tools box.
