What is a Living Learning Community?
Living–Learning Communities (LLCs) offer students the benefit of living with others who share similar academic or special interests.
At Â鶹¹ÙÍø, our LLCs serve as the hub of activities beyond the classroom, promoting student engagement through meaningful dialogue and activities critical to their academic and personal success.
Faculty from various disciplines work with residence life staff to plan and implement programming and academic initiatives for LLCs throughout the academic year.
Students within the LLC benefit from events specific to the LLC theme, leadership development opportunities, guest speakers, and much more.
How to Apply
If you are interested becoming a member of one of Â鶹¹Ù꿉۪s Living Learning Communities, contact the Residential & Dining Services Office at (570) 422-3460.
STEM and Honors LLC
The STEM Program's LLC and the University Honors Program's LLC are both located in
Sycamore Suites (We note that many residents are, in fact, members of both the STEM
Program and the University Honors Program.)
The foundational piece of these two Sycamore Suites-located LLCs is a community-wide commitment to high academic achievement.
Residents in these two LLCs eagerly pursue their academic goals, supported by their fellow residents, staff members, and faculty members who regularly schedule academic events in Sycamore Suites.
- Programming: Shared Coursework, Career Development Sessions, Research Project, Networking Programs, Priority Registration, Study Sessions.
- Students in this LLC: Residents within this community study Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Psychology.
- Student/Affiliated Organizations: University Honors Program

Living in the Sycamore as a member of the Honors and Stem LLC has given me a chance to develop strong relationships with classmates that want to do great work within and outside of the classroom. I live with friends and work with faculty in Sycamore Suites, a place I happily call home."
